About This Weather Station
Welcome to Arlington Weather. This site documents the current weather in Arlington, Massachusetts, near Arlington Center.
This website has been running in some form since at least April 2003. In its early years, it used Virtual Weather Station software together with an Oregon Scientific WMR-918 weather station. The current incarnation uses an AcuRite weather station and WeeWX software with the Belchertown skin. Forecast information is provided through Pirate Weather, which ultimately draws on National Weather Service forecast products.
The site also includes current outdoor photographs. Those images are captured using a Raspberry Pi Zero W with a Raspberry Pi Camera module. A good deal of work went into integrating the current photo into the site design, and ChatGPT provided substantial help in getting the present system configured and running.
This system continues a long-running personal weather project, combining local observations with modern open-source software and lightweight Raspberry Pi hardware.
